"Why is it that we can buy a double cheeseburger at McDonalds for 99 cents and you can't even buy a head of broccolli for 99 cents?"I'm watching Food Inc. right now and this question came up. Why is that? Food Inc. raises more questions than answers, but they are questions that have to be raised.

There are so many reasons that I have become a vegetarian, but this film gives me even more. Outsourcing the production of our food to places that we cannot see has made us blind to the issues that are now rising surrounding the mass production of meat. Not only has the meat that I once ate become affected, but now the vegetables, fruits, and grains that we eat are also now becoming tainted with bacteria like E.coli and salmonella. This is not because they can and always have been tainted by bacteria, but because runoff from giant factory farms has now tainted the water that is used to grow these foods.
Ick.
I encourage you to check out these two website, one about the film and another, the blog where news and articles can be found. Read them and educate yourself on where our food comes from. It's what goes into your stomach. It is what nourishes us (supposedly). Don't you deserve to know?
Official Food, Inc. Movie Site - Hungry For Change? - About the Film
Do it people! Learn where your food comes from. Educate yourself about what you put in your stomach. And WATCH THIS FILM. Don't be a wimp and say you don't want to know. More than your nutrition is at stake. Your lives, the lives of your loved ones, and the lives of the children who depend on us to leave the world in a state that is still livable are at stake. Yeah, dramatic, I know. But seriously, the food industry is getting out of control and it's time to open our eyes to what is happening.
Take off the horse blinders, as my old math teacher always said. Look at what is in front of you.
